Patient Care Services
Kindred Hospitals use a multidisciplinary team approach to care that helps our patients return to the highest quality of life possible. Our areas of patient care services include
Brain Injury
Brain injuries can be as sudden as they are devastating. Our interdisciplinary approach to caring for patients with brain injuries includes all aspects of rehabilitation and recovery.
Dialysis
Our interdisciplinary team of dialysis specialists includes physicians, nurses, technicians and dietitians who strive to help you meet the challenges of dialysis with comfort and dignity, and continue to live a full, active life.
Direct Admission
For your convenience, our hospital accepts direct admissions from an Extended Care Facility or Skilled Nursing Center.
Endoscopy
An endoscope is a flexible, lighted tube that, when inserted into the digestive system, transmits images of the inside of the esophagus, stomach and duodenum, allowing the physician to carefully examine the lining of these organs. Our endoscopy team works to make you as comfortable as possible before, during and after the procedure.
Occupational Medicine
Occupational medicine is devoted to prevention and management of occupational and environmental injury, illness and disability.
Pain Management
We feature a variety of treatments designed to ease chronic pain conditions that may result from an accident, infection or sprain.
Palliative Care
Palliative care is designed for patients with active, advanced disease and a short life expectancy. The focus of care is to prevent or relieve symptoms and to do everything possible to improve the patient’s quality of life.
Pulmonary Rehab
The aim of our pulmonary rehab team is to determine your capacity for respiratory recovery and then help you reach your fullest level of function. Our rehab regimen includes testing, education, breathing retraining and nutritional counseling.
Physicians
Your physician, a member of the medical staff, is responsible for the course of your clinical treatment. Your physician will make the necessary arrangements for laboratory X-rays, medications, special diets, and any other treatment or service.
Our staff of over 100 consulting physicians represent specialties including: pulmonology and pulmonary intensive care; gastroenterology; nephrology; neurology; geriatrics; orthopedics, general and plastic surgery; cardiology; hematology; infectious diseases; internal medicine; dermatology; and urology.
Our physicians are very supportive of the facility and its outcomes. Primary referral sources are well educated on the services provided at Kindred Hospital Denver.
Nursing
Nursing services are provided around the clock to meet each patient’s unique needs. Through the Department of Nursing, care plans are created in conjunction with physicians, therapists and specialists in other disciplines.
Respiratory Therapists
Under the direction of the medical staff, our team of respiratory therapists evaluates, treats and manages patients with cardiopulmonary problems. They also provide preventive care.
Radiology
Using advanced equipment, the radiology staff performs a variety of X-rays and diagnostic services that play an important role in diagnosing many illnesses.
Surgical Services
Kindred Hospital Denver provides no surgical services on site. Patients who require surgical intervention are transferred to an appropriate facility. Bedside procedures are provided for interventions such as: Endoscopic procedures (Bronchoscopes, Esophageal Gastro Dilatation); Gastroenterological procedures (Colonoscopies, PEG placement); and Tracheostomies.
Laboratory
Operating under the direction of a physician, the laboratory is responsible for conducting any tests that are ordered. Our advanced equipment performs tests accurately and quickly, with results available on the same day whenever possible.
Pharmacy
An integral part of the patient care team is our staff of licensed pharmacists. They prepare medications and provide special dietary supplements necessary for proper nutrition.
Food Services and Nutrition Support
The goal of our dietitian is to strive to meet your nutritional needs and prepare diets as ordered by your physician. The dietitian also performs periodic nutritional assessments and monitors your nutrition plan. Please make the dietitian aware of your food preferences and any food allergies you may have.
Internal Case Management/Social Services
In order to provide you with the most appropriate resources available, and to support you during and after hospitalization, an internal case manager will be assigned to each patient. The Internal Case Management Department offers assistance with discharge planning, referrals to community resources, assistance in securing medical equipment for use at home, and as a patient liaison. Counseling is also available.
Physical Therapy
Our physical therapists are an integral part of your rehabilitation process. Under the direction of your physician, they evaluate, treat and provide rehabilitation for muscular, skeletal, neurological and circulatory diseases.
Occupational Therapy
The work of the occupational therapist helps promote independence in daily living skills such as feeding, bathing, dressing and grooming. The goal we strive toward is to increase your strength, endurance and coordination.
Speech Therapy
When required, a licensed speech and language pathologist provides therapy to improve your speaking and swallowing skills as much as possible.
Chaplain Services
There are chaplains on standby to assist you and your family with any needs or concerns. Your minister is also welcome to visit at any time.
